Classes

Jazz

Jazz evolved in the early twentieth century as a natural accompaniment to jazz music- a highly syncopated, rhythmic, and uniquely American form of popular music.

Creative Dance

The objective of Creative Dance is to lead the children to use their creativity by using the elements of dance- time, space, energy and body. Children discover a great deal about their bodies, minds, language, thoughts, imagination and ideas through creative dance as they learn dance technique.

Modern Dance

Modern Dance is a highly individualistic and diverse form of artistic expression. Modern dance is a form that originated in America during the twentieth century and that was to have a profound effect on dance education- time, space, energy and body.

Ballet

Ballet is the highly disciplined and codified stage art and is based on a centuries-old tradition of movement skills. It has a repertoire today that is drawn from classical performance side by side with the most contemporary themes and choreographic approaches. Ballet is best known for its unique features and techniques, such as point work, turn out of the legs, and high extensions, its graceful, flowing, precise movement; and its ethereal qualities.

ZUMBA!: Ditch the workout, join the party!

Zumba combines high energy, motivating music, with unique moves and combinations that allow Zumba participants to dance their worries away. It is based on the principle that a workout should be "FUN AND EASY TO DO" allowing Zumba participants to stick to the Zumba Fitness program and achieve long-term health benefits. Zumba is a "feel-happy" workout that is great for both the body and the mind.

Company

To be on company, dancers must attend ALL the classes. Each class is designed to develop and train their minds and bodies improving upon their overall technique. Company dancers will be given more opportunities to perform and will advance quicker than students that come once a week.

Mini Company Ballet

Mini Company Ballet: A more serious study of pirouettes is done at this level. Students will begin the year executing pirouettes at the barre so that by the end of the year they can execute all turning movements, including pirouettes in the center. Pointe work begins at the end of this year for students who are physically, mentally and technically ready to handle the rigorous demands of pointe work-study. Students continue to learn new steps while working on the coordination and flawless execution of the vocabulary learned in previous years.

Junior Company Ballet

Junior Company Ballet: By the time students reach this level, classical placement should be established, and the arms and head should respond to the positions of the legs in a natural way. Students will continue the study of turning movements with increasing difficulty, and begin study of grands pirouettes. Special study will be placed on transition movements, making each step connect smoothly from one to the other. Pointe students continue their study of pointe work with increasing difficulty.

Senior Company Ballet

Senior Company Ballet: At this level, students will continue to study the basics of ballet technique while executing exercises with more difficult steps and weight transfers, and at faster tempi than in previous years. In this year, the study of jumps in various ways, especially steps with beats, will be stressed. The study of grands pirouettes continues. The study of pointe work continues as the students begin a study of pirouettes on pointe.

Performing Dance Company Ballet

Performing Dance Company Ballet: As our top performing company, the Performing Dance Company will be held to a high technical standard. At this level, the execution of all fundamental movements is carried through with finishing touches striving to reach the perfection of classical dance. At this level, kinesthetic awareness and intellectual understanding are sharpened. Students are taught to use their technique as a medium for artistic expression while maintaining the clarity of the movement. Students will study classical variations as part of their pointe training. Also in their study of pointe work, all turning movements will be executed with increasing difficulty and speed throughout the year.
